May the Raindrops fall lightly on your brow
May the soft winds freshen your spirits
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest light on upon you
and may god enfold you in the mantle of his love

Born To Live

Let life touch you.
Let yourself be moved.
Yes, it will hurt sometimes.
But far, far deeper would be the pain
if you were to build
an impenetrable wall around yourself.
Let it all reach into you, for you have
what it takes to handle the experience.
Know the joys and the sadnesses,
the frustrations and the thrills,
the deep serenity and the noisy commotion.
Immerse yourself in the intensity of life.
You were born not to hide but to live,
so do it every day.
Go ahead and laugh, go ahead and cry.
Jump and smile and hug and sing,
run and dance and shout.
Let life get to you.
And be truly moved by the
awesome wonder of it all.

Miracles

You are a witness to many miracles,

This fact you may not know,

If You'll open your eyes to God's Wonders

These Miracles will be shown,

The Miracles of friendship,

The Miracle of True Love

The Miracle of laughter,

The Miracle of our tears,

The Miracle of our growing and maturing o'er the years

The Miracle of each loved one

The Miracle of joy that comes with the Miracle

of a newborn girl or boy

Oh let us focus our clouded eyes,

On miracles all 'round

For whenever we can see clearly

God's Miracles can be found!

I found this and wanted to send it on to all my loves here in CCN I really believe this. Love Becky

When the tide comes rolling in,
And the mighty oceans roar,
It can go on land so far
That is all, it goes no more.

When the storm clouds gather round us
And the great big raindrops fall,
Just so much will fall to earth
as it heeds the Master's call.

When the load becomes so heavy
That the body cries in pain,
Remember that this too will end
Like the ocean and the rain.

So adorn thyself with gladness,
Remember God is really there,
He takes time to feed the sparrow,
And He always answers prayer.

MAY I ADD...
THAT MY LOVE and PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.   He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the
donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.   Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping   .never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less

NOW --------

Enough of that . . .

The donkey later came back and bit the farmer who tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected.

MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON:
When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.

April, 2004

This is one of the neatest stories I've ever heard.
 You will know
precisely what this little girl is talking about at
 the end!

"Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again.
 We've been back
to this animal shelter at least five times.  It has
 been weeks now since
we started all of this," the mother told the
 volunteer.

"What is it she keeps asking for?" the volunteer
 asked.

"Puppy size!" replied the mother.

"Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what
 she's looking
for."

"I know...we have seen most of them," the mom said
 in
frustration...
Just then Danielle came walking into the office.
 "Well, did you find
one?"asked her mom.

"No, not this time," Danielle said with sadness in
 her voice.  "Can
we come back on the weekend?" The two women looked
 at each other,
 shook their heads and laughed.

"You never know when we will get more dogs.
 Unfortunately, there's
always a supply," the volunteer said. Danielle took
 her mother by the
hand and headed to the door.

"Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend," she said.
 Over the next
few days both mom and dad had long conversations
 with her. They
both felt she was being too particular.

"It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,"
 Dad finally said
in frustration."We don't want to hear anything more
 about puppy
 size either," Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter
 on Saturday
morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she
 ran right for
the section that housed the smaller dogs. Tired of
 the routine, mom
sat in the small waiting room at the end of the
 first row of cages. There
was an observation window so you could see the
 animals during times
 when visitors weren't permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling
 periodically to take
a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out
 and she held each
one.  One by one she said, "Sorry, you're not the
 one."

It was the last cage on this last day in search of
 the perfect pup.
The volunteer opened the cage door and the child
 carefully picked up the
dog and held it closely.  This time she took a
 little longer.  "Mom,
that's it! I found the right puppy!  He's the one!
I know it!" she screamed
with joy. "It's the puppy size!"

"But it's the same size as all the other puppies you
 held over the
last few weeks," Mom said.

"No not size ---- the sighs.  When I held him in my
 arms, he
sighed,"  she said. "Don't you remember?  When I
 asked you one day
what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs
 of your heart.  The
more you love, the bigger the sigh!"

The two women looked at each other for a moment.
Mom didn't know
whether to laugh or cry.  As she stooped down to hug
 the child, she did a
little of both. "Mom, every time you hold me, I
 sigh.  When you and Daddy
come home from work and hug each other, you both
 sigh.  I knew I would
find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in
 my arms," she said.

Then holding the puppy up close to her face she
 said, "Mom, he loves me.
I heard the sighs of his heart!"

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the
 love that makes you
sigh.

You will not only find it in the arms of loved ones,
 but in the caress of
a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle
 brush of cool air on
a hot day.

Take the time to stop and listen; you will be
 surprised at what you hear.

"Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but
by the moments that take our breath away."

Hope ya enjoy,

FRIENDSHIP

Friends do things for one another
They understand
They go a million miles out of their way
They hold your hand
They bring you smiles
when a smile is exactly what you needed.

They listen and they hear
what is said in the spaces between the words
They care
and they let you know
you're in their prayers.

Friends always know the perfect thing to do
they can make your whole day
just by saying something that no one else
could have said.

Sometimes you feel like the two of you
share a secret language
that others can't tune in to.

A friend can guide you, inspire you,
comfort you, or light up your life with laughter.
A friend understands your moods
and nurtures your needs.
A friend lovingly knows just what you're after.
When your feelings come from deep inside
and they need to be spoken to someone
you don't have to hide from,
you share them with a friend.

When good news comes
a friend is the first one you turn to
When feelings overflow
and tears need to fall
friends help you through it all.

Friends bring sunlight into your life
They warm your life with their presence
whether they are far away
 or close by your side.

A friend is a gift
that brings happiness
and a treasure
that money can't buy.

From Lia

I've been taking care of my Dad for quite a while now.  He's pretty much blind, and does he ever make a mess.  He's 89 and I'm 52.
Since my kidney cancer surgery I figure the house is not going to be as clean as I like.  The stairs are always in need of cleaning.
I discovered something.  If you don't clean the stairs, they only get so dirty.  And no dirty'er.  And the world keeps going around.  This is amazing, before, I thought dirty stairs were the worst thing in the world.   I wonder what other things left dirty don't matter?                                                         Roy....

The Clothesline Said So Much

A clothesline was a news forecast
       To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.

It also was a friendly link
       For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.

       For then you'd see the fancy sheets and towels on the line;
       You'd see the company tablecloths
      With intricate design.

The line announced a baby's birth
       Of folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung
       So carefully with pride.

The ages of the children could
      So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed
You'd know how much they'd grown.

It also told when illness struck,
      As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
      Haphazardly were strung.

It said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
with not an inch to spare.

New folks in town were scorned upon
       If wash was dingy gray,
As neighbors raised their brows, and looked
       Disgustedly away.

But clotheslines now are of the past
       For dryers make work less.
Now what goes on inside a home
       Is anybody's guess.

I really miss that way of life.
       It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!

Hi Everyone

My dear friend Lisa sent this quote to me today. I'd thought I share it with all of you.

"When we long for life without...difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure."

We all have our problems ....but yes they make us strong in ways we may never understand.......stand tall, be strong and never never give up.

Lia

I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral

At the funeral of a friend

He referred to the dates on her tombstone

From the beginning.......to the end

He noted first came he her date of birth

Next date he spoke in tears

But what mattered most of all

Was the dash between the years

For the dash respents all the time

That she spent alive on earth

And now only who loved her

Know what little line is worth

For it matters not,how much we own

The cars...the house....the cash

What matters is how we live and love

And how we spend our dash

So think bout this hard and long

Are there things you would like to change?

For you never know how much time is left

That can still be rearranged

If we could only slow down long enough

To consider whats true and real

And always try to understand

That people feel

And be less quick with anger

And show more appreciation more

And the the people in our lives

love them like you haven't before

If we treat others more with respect

And more often wear a smile

Remembering that this special dash

Might only last a little while

So when your eulogy's being read

With your life's actions rehash

Would be proud of the things they say

About how you spent your dash.......

Glad i am spending part of my dash with sum very special wonderful caring people. Thankyou CCN for letting me be part of your family (From Nuggles)

My soul drifts aimlessly in times of hopelessness.
It searches tirelessly for meaning and truth ...
Yet finds no direction.

My heart bleeds quietly in times of loneliness.
It yearns to find warmth and happiness ...
Yet it somehow eludes me.

My eyes seek out visions in times of want.
They gaze endlessly through the blackness that envelops them ...
Yet they cannot see the light.

My ears listen earnestly in times of silence.
They search for familiar sounds to comfort and console ...
Yet they cannot penetrate the darkness that surrounds me.

My arms reach out frantically in times of despair.
They seek strength and compassion to enfold me ...
Yet they find nothing substantial to enwrap.

My mind cries out desperately in times of solitude.
It poses intense questions that demand answers ...
Yet there are none to be found.

My hand reaches out earnestly in these times of confusion.
It types the address of a familiar and calming place......
And gratefully, my lifeline to sanity ... remains intact.

Thanks CCN for being there for all of us.

Lia

This is so true..........

HUGS

It's wonderful what a hug can do A hug can cheer you, when you're blue A hug can say, "I love you so" Or, "I hate to see you go" A hug is "Welcome back again" And "Great to see you! "Where've you been?" A hug can sooth a small child's pain and bring a rainbow after rain The hug, there's no doubt about it We scarcely could survive without it! A hug delights and warms and charms It must be why God gave us arms Hugs are great for Fathers and Mothers Sweet for Sisters, Swell for brothers And chances are your favorite Aunts Love them more than potted plants Kittens crave them, Puppies love them Heads of States are not above them A hug can break the language barrier And make your travel so much merrier No need to fret about your store of 'em The more you give, the more there's more of them So stretch those arms without delay And give someone a hug today Gave someone a hug today God bless you .

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
               Before the song is over

A Great Attitude!

The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. "I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mrs.. Jones, you haven't seen the room .... just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.  It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice:  I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away ... just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account ... you withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories. Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing."

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.

2. Free your mind from worries

3. Live simply.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less.

Inspiring Message of Hope

No matter how dark, disturbing, painful, and upsetting our circumstances may seem, there is a place of peace God has for each of us as a shelter from the storm.  and we can depend on Him to take us there when we look to him for refuge.
One of the best illustrations of this is whenever we take off in an airplane on a gray, dreary, rainy day.  It's amazing how we can fly right up through the dark, wet clouds---so thick that we cant see one thing from the window--and then suddenly we rise above it all and have the ability to see for miles.  Up there the sky is sunny, clear, and blue.  I keep forgetting that no matter how bad the weather gets, it's possible to rise above the dark and gloom of the storm to a place where everything is fine.

Hiya all-Im reading a great book called  Praying through Life's Problems and its wondeful.  I've never been much of a reader but I seen this book and thought it couldnt hurt, now I cant put the book down.  Ive had alot of time to my self lately and what a great time to read and I hope that you all dont mind me sharing the parts that have hit my emotions so much sense dealing with cancer.
IM getting ready to go back to Salt Lake at the Huntsman Center--So Im sure by wensday Ill be sleeping alot and praying for us all.   I luvs ya all much and always thinking of each and every one.  Daisha

January, 2004

Hello, God. I called tonight
To talk a little while...
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial.

You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own.
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone.

I want to ask you please to keep
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.

Give me faith, Dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.

I thank you, God, for being home
And listening to my call;
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.

Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.

So thank-you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good-night, God.  I love You, too.
And I'll call again tomorrow!

There is a saying that in real estate that there are 3 key words and they
are, "location, location, location." In cancer, there are also 3 key words
and they are, "fight, fight, fight." Whatever your role is in this battle,
survivor, caregiver, or patient, we can never forget . We are in a war and
our enemy is an unforgiving cruel tyrant that takes no prisoners and has no
feelings for whom it hurts.
We all have those days. You wake up, take a deep breath and a long sigh comes
out. Your eyes fill with tears and that cold cloud of despair starts to creep
over you and you feel so sad and so scared. I am sure everyone here has felt
this, it is so normal for us, it has become our destiny. But these are the
days we need the most. Believe it or not these are the days we are the
strongest, the day we can take that next step the day we can keep going.
These are the days we never stop, we will fight, fight, fight.
I am one of the lucky ones, I have had lung cancer twice, been operated on,
lost some lung tissue for both cancers, but I escaped . I have not gone
through chemo or radiation like so many of you. You are the heroes and the
warriors.
So when you wake up that morning and take that deep breath remember that
someone will next to you, to help you, to hold you, and to give you the
support we all need to win our fight.
Maybe the 3 words for cancer should be, "win, win, win."

Happy First Anniversary CCN and Gex!

This Poem is Dedicated to Gex_The_Gecko
For all the souls he touches everyday!
God Bless You Gex!
Thank You!

Once in an epoch, a creation comes along so noble
Generously born into this world......with purpose so global
Expectations of him are high yet guided as he must be
Twas sent here with a goal.......to comfort humanity
He grew to be the best he could as was meant from birth
A guided and sought after blessing.....he moves this earth
He married, created a family and raised his children with grace
They inherited his kindness and of them....we warmly embrace
Possessed by a promise........that only he can keep
To better mankind and dry tears many weep
Nothing comes easy....he invites struggles and hard labor
To assist and boster us......we are each his neighbor
Sacrifice comes easy others' desires become known
Seeking out our wants and needs making them his own
He shares in our sufferings and triumphs in our feats
To meet a soul left untouched.......to him is incomplete
He calms our storms and for that short while
Priceless!......our feelings and contented smiles
Led by divinity and brought to us here
Reverently he holds us.....whispering "I'm always near!"
In seeking compassion......meeting this man is a must
Honorable and worthy is this man in whom we trust
He is a gift, a presnt.....a bounty on us bestowed
He is a legend in our hearts more precious than gold!!!!

Happy First Anniversary My Dear Friend Gex!  My words lack justice for who you are and what you so freely give!  It has been a pleasure getting to know you and being a part of this wonderful home away from home!  May Anniversary number two be celebrated by thousands around the world!
God Bless You and Your Family and CancerCareNetwork!

Christmas Poem Collaboration

Christmas time will soon be here, with lots of friends both far and near,

We are glad we joined this room, and won’t be leaving, any time soon.

Christmas is a time for cheer and welcoming friends both far and near.......

With Santa getting oh so near Are those sleigh bells? Can you hear?

Decorating, card writing, spending galore

Christmas is so much more!

A prayer, a thought, a hope on high,

That all will be well, no need to cry.

Spend time with loved ones, two or three

You will see how happy ...you can be!

We share such love for one another....

Dear to our hearts like sisters and brothers

"We treat Christmas memorable and special as gold,

With those we love not knowing what the future holds"

In pirouettes Glitz so happy and bright,

Waltzes with members from the CCN site!

Jackfrost stopped by and gave Christmas cheer

As we spend time with friends and family so dear

We reminisce of Christmas' long ago

While we sit at the window looking at the glistening snow

Christ is the reason for the season, as he offers daily presents

For all the members of CCN, wonderful ladies and gents!

The best time of year is finally here. It's over to fast, so lets make it last.

Here in CCN, when everything else bends, we will still be friends.

I wish there would be a cure for cancer.

I would also like to take this time to tell you all how thankful I am to have each and everyone of you. It is so comforting just to know the site is here. Knowing that I can come here at any moment if needs be. I know I will always have someone to talk to and you all don't know how comforting that is. We are truly blessed to be living in such a time were you can connect with people this intimately via computer it is awesome.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday however you may celebrate it. And I hope all of your wishes come true.

I would also like to say Bravo to Glitzy this was a good idea.....my prayers and best wishes for you.

Love and Prayers to all Becky (momw/ovca)
